Le village de Lourmarin
| Lourmarin in situated in the heart of the Luberon Regional Park and the Château overlook the village. Lourmarin initially developed as it was situated at the only passage through the Luberon Moutains. in the 14th century, pillage and plagues drove the inhabitants away from the village. It was populated again in the 15th century by the Waldensians who embraced the ideas of th eReformation. |

The village only returned to life in the 17 th century with the establishment of silkworm nurseries.
At the revolution (1789) there were more than 1600 inhabitants, but today there are just over 1100. The village, which is classified as one of the most beautiful in France has retained all its charm. |
